You May Want This Meeting on Your Monday Night Calendar

Aspen Heights is a proposed student housing project not dissimilar to The Grove, which has been in the news lately, or the proposed Standard project, which was withdrawn after much controversy earlier this year. Aspen Heights is proposed for land west of Presidio in the Pines and requires annexation and rezoning by the Flagstaff City Council.

The Council is set to consider Aspen Heights at its meeting on Monday, November 3 (rescheduled from Tuesday because of Election Day). This appears as Items 14.A and 14.B on the council agenda.

The proposed development will affect traffic along west Route 66 and the Milton Road corridor. In addition, the U.S. Naval Observatory and Lowell Observatory have expressed concern about the impact on their operations. A concise summary of concerns is contained in a letter that appears in the Daily Sun today.

If you live in the Boulder Pointe, Equestrian Estates, Westwood, Flagstaff Ranch, or Presidio neighborhoods of Flagstaff, or commute to the W.L. Gore westside campus, you may want to attend the Monday night meeting and speak your piece.
