This weekend, on Saturday afternoon, head over to Flagstaff’s premier winter tasting event – Flagstaff BrewHaHa. Over 75 different brews will be featured, along with, light hors d’ oeuvres, live music, a Best in Show beer contest, a VIP luncheon, and more! Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona. It’s at the High Country Conference Center (201 W. Butler Ave.), 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 day of event. A new photography exhibit is on display beginning Saturday — The Slide Fire Story: A Tribute to Oak Creek Canyon – at the Museum of Northern Arizona. On May 20, 2014, the largest fire in the history of the Coconino National Forest ignited in Sedona’s Oak Creek Canyon, one of the most scenic places on earth. Crews battled day and night for 16 days to contain the blaze and minimize the damage to the forest. The Slide Fire Story presents more than 100 hauntingly beautiful images, depicting the fire’s dramatic race up the Canyon and the efforts of over 1,200 firefighters to halt its fury. Free with regular museum admission.
Roller Derby is back for 2015 on Saturday afternoon at Mount Elden Middle School (3223 N. Fourth St.), with Superheroes vs. Super Villains: A Roller Derby Bout, 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Kids ages 7 – 12 are $5, 6 and under are free. $1 from every ticket will be donated to the Tyler Stewart Memorial Fund. Learn to Skate every Sunday afternoon with the most experienced ice skaters in Flagstaff. Whether you want to skate recreationally or try figure skating or ice hockey, group lessons are a low-cost way to start having fun on the ice. The skating school is an approved US Figure Skating Basic Skills Learn to Skate program, supervised by professional coaches and taught by friendly instructors. All ages and abilities are welcome. Arrive at the Jay Lively Activity Center (ice arena, 1650 N. Turquoise Dr.) by 4:00 p.m. to register and rent skates. The March Fourth Marching band makes an appearance on Sunday night at The Orpheum Theater. Aside from their marching band outfits, percussion corps and brass, “M4” is far from your typical marching band. In one 90-minute set the band will take you on a journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the gypsy camps of eastern Europe to the African jungle by way of Brazil, along the way stopping to sample the deepest grooves of the best of American funk, rock, and jazz. Add high-stepping stilt-acrobatics and sexy dancers. Every show is different. Tickets $20 – $22. 8:00 p.m.
