On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Theatrikos Theatre Company presents Sky . . . Diamonds. Written by Kate Hawkes and directed by Nichole Garrison, the play is about a woman with Alzheimer’s, beginning at the end, when her mind is gone. Each scene takes us backward through her life and her family over a period of 10 years, with each character gradually becoming a decade younger. The play was the winner of the Theatrikos Inaugural Original Full-Length Play Contest. Ms. Hawkes also stars in the leading role. Doris Harper-White Community Playhouse. There’s another opportunity to hear symphonic music on Saturday as Orchestra Northern Arizona (ONA) presents a FREE concert: Orbit: A Symphonic Fantasy Dark Skies Concert. ONA has invited noted composer Karim Elmahmoudi to Flagstaff for a special performance of his original composition. The piece, which premiered in Los Angeles in 2012, now plays hourly at the California Science Center, which houses the Space Shuttle Endeavour. Coconino Center for the Arts. Two performances, one at 3:30 p.m. and one at 7:00 p.m. Arrive early, as seats are first come, first served.
On Sunday morning, go walk for a great cause as the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Flagstaff sponsors Walk Your Socks Off, a family-fun, whimsical walk-jog-run-a-thon that encourages people of al ages and fitness levels, to come celebrate their differences while helping to improve the quality of life for people with mental illness. Just get up on Saturday, pull on a pair of zany socks, and be at Buffalo Park by 10:30 a.m. The first 50 people to arrive without their own zany socks will receive a pair. T-shirts or all participants. $20 per person.
