Flagstaff’s annual Climb to Conquer Cancer is Saturday. Teams and individuals raise funds to donate to the American Cancer Society. The “climb” is a walk up beautiful Snowbowl Road to the ski area where there will be entertainment, food and a celebration. $40 per person, begins at the base of Snowbowl Road at 7:00 a.m.

On Friday evening, the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association presents 3rd Friday at the Market of Dreams/Mercado de los Sueños, at 2532 E. Seventh Ave. (parking lot of the Cal Ranch Store). The Market of Dreams is a new community project designed to create opportunity for cooperative entrepreneurship and grassroots leadership, stimulating local economics and promoting a vibrant, multi-cultural market. 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Celebrating its 150th Anniversary, the Arizona Historical Society (AHS) hosts two events on Saturday at Riordan Mansion State Park (409 W. Riordan Rd.). A Living History Presentation: Arizona Rough Riders will be 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the mansion grounds where the living history group will be dressed in authentic period dress of the famous Rough Riders, carrying 100-year-old weapons for the public’s examination. Hear descriptions of the era, the war, the effects, and the social mores of turn of the century America. At 7:00 p.m., Bill Peterson, Director of the Arizona Historical Society’s Northern Division will present a slide show, Arizona’s 150. In celebration of its anniversary, AHS put together an exhibit of 150 of the most interesting objects from the vast, statewide collection. The slide show highlights these objects and the exception stories that go with them.
On Saturday at 12:00 noon, The Northern Arizona University Alumni Association hosts a Flagstaff Alumni Family Picnic. Bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic lunch. Dessert and entertainment provided.
