Experience the artistry and culture of more than 60 award-winning artists and performers.  See artist demonstrations like weaving and sand painting, traditional foods, musical performances and the pageantry of Navajo hoop and social dances. Buy authentic, one-of-a-kind masterpieces including silverwork, jewelry, paintings, weavings, folk carvings, sculpture and more from established and emerging artists.  9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. both days.

Thursday through Sunday, browse to your heart’s content at The Friends of the Flagstaff Public Library Book Sale. Hundreds of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and more for sale.  All proceeds help support library services and programming.  Main downtown Flagstaff Library.  Thursday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Friday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 2nd, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Wheeler Park comes alive on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with an extraordinary collection of arts & crafts for sale. Flagstaff Art & Craft Festival.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, see the Theatrikos Theatre Company’s production of The 39 Steps. Broadway’s longest running comedy continues this weekend at the Doris Harper-White Playhouse.  A man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she’s a spy. This the final weekend for the Flagstaff Youth Theatre production of Shrek the Musical, bringing everyone’s favorite ogre to life with song, dance and breathtaking scenery. Friday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  At Flagstaff High School Main Auditorium.  Evening performances – adults $10, youth 12 and under $8.  Matinee performances – adults $9, youth 12 and under $7.

On Friday evening, don your tie dye and head to the Pepsi Amphitheater at Fort Tuthill for a Gerry Garcia Birthday Party with Grateful Dead tribute band Xtra Ticket, Arizona’s premier Grateful Dead tribute band. Admission is $15, 8:00 p.m.

Friday is the first Friday in August – time for the monthly downtown First Friday ArtWalk.  The ArtWalk features new art exhibitions in galleries, transformed spaces, restaurants and other businesses. 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Details and map.

The Flagstaff Symphony Guild’s 2014 Home Tour is Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Tickets for the self-guided tour are $30. Tour 5 beautiful Flagstaff homes including a large contemporary, straw bail, a mid-century modern and craftsman style home.  Live classical music at each home.  Call either Mary Hostetler at 522-0549, Gwen Randolph at 526-6058, or Marilyn Stratton at 522-8288.  All proceeds go to the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra.

This week’s Movie on the Square on Heritage Square is “The Lego Movie.”  Sponsored by the Flagstaff Downtown Business Alliance, a family movie is shown at dusk on the town square every Saturday evening through the summer.  Entertainment begins at 5:00 p.m.  See a movie outdoors under the stars with a few hundred of your friends.

Also on Saturday evening, The Arboretum at Flagstaff’s Summer Concert Series continues with Los Angeles-based chanteuse/songwriter Jessica Fichot.  Like her hometown of Paris: French at heart, but with a soul that’s truly international, Fichot draws from her multi-ethnic upbringing, fusing music styles and languages. The concert will be outdoors, rain or shine, 5:30 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner and blanket or concert chairs. Beer, wine and water will be available for purchase.
