Tad & Eric think they can cook!
RE/MAX Peak Properties Elite Team has two of their amazing teammates participating in this year’s fundraising event for the non-profit organization, Childhelp, “25 Men That Think They Can Cook”. Apparently, Eric Davis and Tad Moore think they can cook!!! The event is a fun event on June 22 at the High Country Conference Center at 5:30pm, where 25 men from the Flagstaff community will provide samples of their specialty dishes for you and the professional chef judges. The professional chef judges will be voting for the one man who can actually cook in each category: Best Entrée, Best Appetizer, Best Chili/Soup, and Best Dessert.
As an attendee, you can vote to determine The People’s Choice Award. There will be a live and silent auction that is sure to generate spirited bidding as well as music from the Mother Road Trio Band and dancing. We would love for you to come and support the Elite Team and Eric and Tad and see if they can actually cook.
Tickets are $65.00 in advance and $75.00 at the door. 93cents of every $1 goes to the Childhelp organization.

About Childhelp
The Flagstaff Chapter was established in 2006 to help serve the needs of Childhelp programs throughout Arizona, but its focus is on the Childhelp Mobile Advocacy Center which serves children in the surrounding area of Flagstaff. The Childhelp Mobile Advocacy Center helps victims of suspected child abuse in four northern Arizona counties combining specialized services and state-of- the-art telemedicine technology to provide crisis intervention, forensic interviews, medical examinations and referrals for the children and their families. The Flagstaff Chapter is committed to making sure this sensitive, child-focused work is available in their communities.

Childhelp’s History
The history of Childhelp is fascinating, in 1952, two young Hollywood actresses, Sara (Buckner) O’Meara and Yvonne (Lime) Fenderson, met playing the bubbly girlfriends of Rick and David Nelson on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Little did they know at the time; it was friendship that would last a lifetime.
Fast-forward seven years, and two rising stars, a stunning brunette and beautiful blonde, were picked from a possible cast of hundreds as part of a government-sponsored goodwill tour. They were selected and flown to Japan to entertain American soldiers during the Korean War.
When they arrived, the entire city of Tokyo was shut down by a severe typhoon with violent winds. “Red flag” alerts warned locals to remain indoors, though a few desperate souls scavenged through the debris and wreckage looking for food and shelter. Among these unfortunate souls was a group of children huddled beneath a fallen awning, pressed together for warmth, but still shivering against the freezing wind. The children were barefoot, clothed in rain-soaked rags and weeping.
After days trapped in their hotel room, the willful and daring actresses grew restless and decided to sneak out for a midday walk. They did not want to miss all the sights and sounds of this fascinating new culture. Propelled by youthful curiosity, they explored the side streets of Tokyo and strode right into the cowering orphans. Turning onto the side street, giggling as their shoes sank into the mud, the young Hollywood actresses must have looked like angels emerged from the terrifying storm to the children.
They immediately ran to the children and cuddled as many as would fit under their billowing coats. Sara and Yvonne furiously flipped through the pages of their English to Japanese dictionaries to converse as best they could. They discovered the little survivors were stranded and from here the rest is history with more than 10 million children saved and many orphanages created.
Fast forward to this year, the 60th anniversary of this amazing organization. Childhelp remains true to their vision. The internationally respected nonprofit is the largest organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect as well as at-risk children. Though it has grown beyond their wildest dreams, CEO and Chairman, Sara O’Meara, and President, Yvonne Fedderson, who still work every day for this critical cause, have never forgotten those eleven little orphans in a storm that inspired their mission of hope.
