The Shadow Mountain neighborhood of Flagstaff is something many who live here have never discovered. While it’s centrally located, the Shadow Mountain neighborhood is a bit out-of-the-way: above Linda Vista Street and east of Buffalo Park. If you’re not headed to the Trinity Heights Methodist Church at the top of 4thStreet, or visiting a friend in the neighborhood, you won’t know that Shadow Mountain is there.

If you’re looking for a home in Flagstaff, you’ll definitely want to consider Shadow Mountain. The Coconino National Forest at the south face of Mt. Elden features thePipeline Trail behind the neighborhood. There are easements allowing neighborhood access to this trail, which connects to the Flagstaff’s Buffalo Park on the west and the more remote Fat Man’s Loop, Elden Lookout and Sunset Trails on the east. In other words, this neighborhood is the dream spot for hikers and mountain bikers. The neighborhood is also located minutes from Flagstaff Medical Center, historic downtown Flagstaff, and the Flagstaff Mall. So, for folks who want the convenience of living in town and yet crave the outdoor recreational access that Flagstaff is famous for, this is the perfect neighborhood.

Many of the homes in this Flagstaff neighborhood are large (above 2500 square feet). Most of these Flagstaff homes were built in the 1980s and early 1990s. The neighborhood is covered with tall pines and has curvy streets that defy casual visitors. It’s one of those Flagstaff neighborhoods that new Flagstaff Realtors® say, “I’ll never learn my way around here!”
