About Kachina Village
Kachina Village is a small, private bedroom community of fewer than 3000 residents. When the neighborhood was first developed in the 1960s, it was called “Kachina Village Country Club” and intended as one of the second home communities growing popular at the time. The area’s roots are still evident in the smaller, wooded lots and many homes’ rustic A-frame or log-built design. However, the country club dissolved in the 1970s, and the private forested tract has been simply “Kachina Village” ever since.
Unlike other Flagstaff neighborhoods, Kachina Village is strictly a single-home community, so you’ll find mobile homes, cabins manufactured homes, and single-family homes all in the same neck of the woods.
Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast who longs to be close to the trails or is just seeking a home with a bit of privacy (and without a homeowner’s association), Kachina Village might be the right neighborhood for you.
Where is Kachina Village Located?
Sitting between I-17 and N State Rte 89A, Kachina Village sits approximately 7 miles south of Flagstaff and 27 miles north of Sedona.
The small, wooded neighborhood itself measures only two square miles. There are relatively few shopping locations in the community. Between Kachina Trail and I-17, you’ll find a gas station with a convenience store, a Subway sandwich shop, and a Dollar General store. However, Mountainaire sits just across I-17, and you can reach the southern edge of Flagstaff in ten minutes, so all the shops you need for essentials and entertaining are nearby.
Kachina Village Landmarks and Attractions
Kachina Village, AZ, is located a few miles south of Flagstaff, putting you within driving distance of a little bit of everything. Ringing the area are hills and springs that once served as an Apache hunting and camping area, and there is an easy ¾ mile trail with wildlife viewing blinds and benches for visitors. Hiking and wildlife watching are also popular activities in the Kachina Wetlands, a lightly-trafficked 2.3-mile loop trail appropriate for all skill levels.
