U.S. Commerce Department numbers for housing start-ups in October were released this morning. Single-family home starts rose a healthy 4.2% compared with October 2013; however, the overall figure dropped 2.8% due to an over 15% drop in apartment complex construction start-ups. The confidence level on these numbers is low — 10%, so don’t read too much into these numbers; they will be adjusted in coming months.
