A modern and convenient facility makes traveling by air pleasant for those living in Flagstaff
Travelers to and from Flagstaff can currently choose from among six flights per day to or from Phoenix, Arizona’s Sky Harbor Airport, on U.S. Airways Express. Departure times are conveniently spread over the day to allow travelers to make connections in Phoenix. U.S. Airways Express operates comfortable Canadair CRJ-200 regional jets for all its flights, with an approximate flight time to Phoenix of 55 minutes (it’s usually less).
Departures involve shorter security lines compared with the Phoenix airport, parking is free and close to the terminal and baggage handling is quick for arrivals. All of this makes adding a Flagstaff leg to any air trip worth considering.

The airport averages about 90 arrivals and departures per day including general aviation, commercial traffic, air taxis, and occasional military use. When buying a Flagstaff home, one consideration is how much of this airport noise is acceptable to you.
Flagstaff’s Pulliam Airport was opened for service on its present site, three miles south of Flagstaff, in late 1948. For several years, civic leaders were aware of the need for an airport with longer runways and a clearer approach than the then-existing airfield north of town in Doney Park, which was known as Koch Field.
Today’s modern Flagstaff airport and beautiful air terminal had its beginnings with a 6,000-foot runway with landing lights where Arizona Airways began daily mail and passenger service in 1949. In 1990, Flagstaff voters approved bonds to match federal and state grants for a new terminal, new apron, parking lots, modern utilities, hangers and landscaping. Along with the completion of the new terminal in 1993, the airport had a new instrument landing and lighting system. Pulliam Airport’s runway was recently lengthened to 8,800 feet.
