SenesTech, a company based in Flagstaff, Arizona, has conducted research in Laos, India and the Philippines, often in agricultural communities where rats pose a threat to rice farmers. SenesTech grew out of research at Flagstaff’s Northern Arizona University and is based in Flagstaff while making an impact all around the world.

In 2007 SenesTech began applying its revolutionary technology to the control of the Southeast Asian Rice Rat in order to increase rice production. In 2010 the National Institute of Health awarded SenesTech a grant through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The grant is intended to further develop ContraPest and methods for applying the product in an urban setting. Now, ContraPest heads to New York City!
