About Winslow
Winslow’s Standin’ On a Corner Park capitalizes on the song’s decades-long popularity. In the same block, the Old Trails Museum depicts the history of a community molded by American Indians and Western pioneers.
The Fred Harvey Company’s Mary Jane Colter created La Posada for the Santa Fe Railroad. This classic hacienda-style masterpiece has a red-tiled roof, public gardens, and beautiful arches. The refurbished rooms include Ponderosa Pine beds, Mexican tiling, and Zapotec carpets. Amelia Earhart, Clark Gable, Will Rogers, and Jane Russell stayed there. The Turquoise Room is one of the region’s best eateries.
Just north of town, Homolovi State Park offers hiking paths around historic sites and petroglyphs of Hopi ancestors who lived in the area until AD 1400.
