About Flagstaff
Flagstaff can be found in north central Arizona, at the foot of the 12,633-foot-tall inactive volcano known as San Francisco Peaks. Flagstaff serves as a transportation center for Northern Arizona since it is situated at the junction of US Interstate 40 and US Interstate 17.
The second-largest county in the US, Coconino County, which includes the winter ski resort Arizona Snow Bowl, Meteor Crater, the Painted Desert, and Oak Creek Canyon, has its county seat in Flagstaff. Flagstaff serves as the entry point to a number of surrounding national parks and monuments, including Petrified Forest National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Walnut Canyon National Monument, and Sunset Crater National Monument.
Additionally, it is the location of the Lowell Observatory, the U.S. Naval Observatories, Northern Arizona University, and the Museum of Northern Arizona, one of the top prehistoric Southwest archeological museums in the world.
